Why Entrepreneurs Need a Supercharged Health Profile to Kill it
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Those of us that have crossed over from the dark side of burn the midnight fire, and endless work without sleep, realize the importance of improving the machine to be better entrepreneurs.
One of the reasons I push nootropics so heavily, is because they’ve made me a better entrepreneur in every discernible area. When my genetically inherited sleep condition (sleep apnea) interrupts my sleep, because my diet is bad and or I’m sick (I get the apnea way worse when I’m sick), nootropics help take my brain back to baseline, and then some.
“But there’s more to life than just nootropics for brain performance. Smart entrepreneurs understand the need for restoration and health.”
Over the course of my time as an entrepreneur, there were many periods of time in which I ate and slept like complete and total shit. Everything from processed WaWa food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, to 5-6 hours of sleep, then right back to work.
And sure – I’m young (and started my first venture at 25), so I could get away with the above shenanigans for quite some time. But eventually, as they say, it “catches up to you.” And it caught up to me hardcore in my 30’s.
I found out that not taking care of myself, prevents my body from healing colds and flus quickly, and even makes them last a ton longer. I realized that eating like shit, even though I thought I was eating relatively healthy, was making my genetic sleep condition worse, which ruins my sleep, which prevents my body from healing the sleep apnea. And this is a vicious cycle.
But even when the apnea isn’t acting up, and I have that under control, if I don’t eat or sleep right, I’m not only not as productive, but I also:
- Am not as verbally fluent.
- Am not as quick on my feet in the midst of entrepreneurial life.
- Am not as happy and balanced, no matter how much meditation I do.
- Cannot execute at the highest level when dealing with customers in my hardware tech company.
- Am not excited about leaving my apartment to go out and kill it.
- Lose excitement about making money, advancing my life as an entrepreneur, and focusing on future businesses.
“And all of this is NOT good. It’s not good for productivity, it’s not good for my balance, and the end results of these “ailments” is NOT good for the business cash flow account. It’s a total disaster.”
So – the question you want to ask yourself is: do I want to function at 65%, just to get more time in? Time, that invariably, for most people, won’t actually be as much time as you think because you’re not as effective within that time?
And the answer needs to be no. Say no to 65% functionality. Say no to a grumpy, groggy self that prevents you from being the killer entrepreneur you are. You can’t let this be your life. You will eventually crash and burn.
So here’s what you do.
How to Start Performing Like a BeastÂ
First, I am not a juice cleanse, non meat eating health pusher. I hate those types. I take care of my body and push these ideas strictly because it helps me make more money as a business person. I’d subsist on pizza and ice cream if it was good for me, and made me feel great. But it isn’t, and doesn’t.
But the truth is, eating a TON of fruits and vegetables, with a healthy dose of animal products for B vitamins, protein, iron, Omega 3 fatty acids, and other important nutrients, is a recipe for making the body feel invincible.
“Recently, I started juicing. I know, I know, I’m already sounding like one of these hyperbole driven health gurus. I’m not, and this juicing business is some serious shit. “
I started juicing raw kale, spinach, ginger, carrots, and some fruits: apples, bananas, blueberries, and blackberries. I bought an actual juicer and started throwing all these foods into it, and making these crazy good juice smoothies. I started drinking them, and nearly freaked out because I felt so good.
My sleep condition improved tenfold, and the quality of my sleep went up dramatically. I started getting my excitement about life back, whereas prior I felt like I was in a never ending entrepreneurial burnout. I was hyped again to wake up and go kill it in life, and build my businesses.
My digestion improved, making food became a lot more easy and straightforward, and I started humming along, with crazy amounts of energy throughout the day, to build my businesses. On top of cycling on and off of good nootropics, like Cortex, Aniracetam, Bacopa Monnieri, Gaba, Krill Oil (which I totally think is a nootropic) and a couple of others, I am a literal machine, plowing through everything in my way.
Does this mean you have to start juicing to get the same benefits? Not necessarily. I’d suggest though, cutting out some of the bullshit you’re eating, if you’re subsiding on processed frankenfoods from the local whatever, and getting some more whole foods into your diet. Focus a lot on green leafy vegetables. I mean, just adding a colorful salad to each meal will do wonders for you. Eat an apple instead of whatever abomination you’d eat that you buy from the protein bar section at 711.
Eat some salmon instead of a slice of pizza. Things like that. After about a week or so, you’re going to start feeling insanely different. I did. And then thereafter, your body is going to crave good wholesome nutritious foods. It nows that’s the fuel you need to CRUSH IT as an entrepreneur. To build your companies, make the changes you’re after, and drive those Benzes.
Sleep is the Force Multiplier
What eating a lot healthier did for me, was (among the above stated) improve my sleep tenfold. I mean, laying down at 11PM, and being able to sleep straight through to 8AM the next morning, is like the ultimate force of health and happiness for you to go out there and be a monster in business.
When my health and brain performance ultimately broke after the combination of not eating enough nutritious foods, not sleeping well, and having a bunch of health problems as a result of it, I was as good as toast. I was not myself. I could not function as well as I knew I once could, and my performance was suffering. Not only that, my companies were suffering. Cashflow was suffering. I was not interested in putting my all into my ventures. I was dead to the world.
“But when I fixed these problems, and started sleeping like a baby again, my entire life changed. Sleep is the ultimate force multiplier. If you don’t get enough of it, expect the force of failing and flailing to be multiplied. If you get enough of it, expect your productivity to soar, and for great things to happen.”
Over the years, since my primary interest is in improving brain performance and thusly, I understand the connection between how my machinery is working and how effective I am as a hustler, I’ve become very clear on the notion that I need to optimize the human machine to work well. I mean, that’s what nootropics are about.
But as people say in the nootropic community, no nootropic is going to significantly help you if you’re sleeping and eating like shit. You have to get that area straight to really be in control of your productivity as an entrepreneur. It’s critically important.
But does this mean you can’t enjoy some beer, wine, liquor, and or pizza once in a while? Definitely not. In fact, I think these vices are extremely useful to indulge in sometimes.
But the proportion of fresh produce, and good quality protein needs to be a lot higher than processed hybrid multi-ingredient foods and alcohol.
If you take care of the machine, the machine will take care of you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_info_banner banner_title=”Want to try our flagship Nootropic? ” banner_desc=”Get a bottle of our killer smart drug, Cortex.” button_text=”Get Optimized” button_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Flivecortex.com%2Fproduct%2Fcortex-gen-1%2F||target:%20_blank” banner_image=”11512|https://livecortex.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bottle_label_product_size_mini6.png” title_font_size=”20″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
