Ep55: Ray Kurzweil’s Futurist Nootropic Stack

Ray Kurzweil is a well known futurist, who knows has a senior engineering position at Google, and reportedly takes 100-200 supplements per day, so that he can survive until what he calls the “singularity” happens.

In short – the singularity refers to a time where humans will upload their brains into machines, and our consciousnesses will thereafter, live forever. Kurzweil’s mission is to live until that time, which he believes to be 2045. He’s 69 now, so 27 years isn’t that far fetched.

But the interesting thing is, part of Ray’s supplement regimen, which is designed to keep him alive until this “singularity” happens, is nootropics. A good bit of them too.

According to a post on Thrivous, Kurzweil takes some of the nootropics world’s beloved compounds, including ALCAR and L-Theanine. The entire list looks like this:

  1. Acetyl-L-Carnitine
  2. EPA/DHA
  3. GABA (unknown if Picamilon or some other form of more bioavailable GABA then regular GABA, which is said to have a hard time crossing into the brain)
  4. Ginkgo Biloba
  5. L-Theanine
  6. Melatonin (questionable if this is a nootropic – but we’ll call it one for now)
  7. Phosphatidylcholine
  8. SAMe
  9. Vinpocetine
  10. On this QUORA POST, which claims to come from one of Kurzweil’s books, it says he also takes Alpha GPC. I would wager he probably still takes this.

In the podcast, we’ll break down all of these compounds, discuss their nootropic effects/efficacy, and I’ll give my take on Kurzweil’s stack. ENJOY!!
